Car plunges into Hudson River; driver rescued

The vehicle went into the river after driving off the Henry Hudson Parkway at about 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, NBC New York reported.

A woman has been pulled out of Manhattan's Hudson River after?her car?plunged into the water, officials said.

The vehicle went into the?river?after the elderly driver lost control, plowing off the Henry Hudson Parkway?at about 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, NBC New York reported.

Divers searched the waters for other possible victims, but it is not clear if there were any passengers in the car.

?The woman was found floating near the river wall after managing to climb out of the car as it started sinking. FDNY officials threw a life ring to her and an officer jumped in to pull her out, according to CBS New York.

She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine, NBC New York reported.

The accident happened somewhere between 94th and 96th Streets. Officials said the woman was involved in a minor wreck which caused her to skid?off the highway and onto a service road at 96th Street, then crash through a fence along the river, reported CBS New York.

The car has been pulled out of the river.
